Relievant’s Manufacturing Engineer II will be helping to advance the company’s minimally invasive low back pain technology. This position will work with R&D in the development and transfer of new medical devices to contract manufacturing. This position also supports ongoing efforts to drive supply chain maturity through process improvements, cost reductions, and design/quality improvements to advance a robust supply chain infrastructure which can support the company’s plans for growth. All of Relievant’s manufacturing is conducted at contract manufacturers and our extensive network of vendor partners; Relievant does not have any in-house manufacturing.

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to develop and transfer new products into production by identifying assembly techniques, manufacturing processes, and design for manufacturing (DFM) recommendations as appropriate
  • Liaise with contract manufacturers to develop and execute manufacturing protocols, process validations, procedures, work instructions, and equipment specifications for both new products and on-market product changes.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to analyze manufacturing process challenges/issues and identify, test, and implement the most effective technical solutions in a timely manner
  • Develop and maintain design and process control documentation including drawings (CAD), specifications, procedures, and work instructions
  • Provide ongoing support to address supplier manufacturing and quality issues in partnership with Relievant’s supplier network
  • Travel to contract manufacturers (as needed)

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (or related Science).
  • 2+ years of experience in engineering/manufacturing (medical device preferred).
  • 3D modeling


  • Working knowledge of basic engineering principles, theories, concepts, and techniques.
  • Experience and/or understanding of medical device manufacturing processes, such as: injection molding, sterile processing, metal machining and forming, adhesive application, coating, polishing, thermoforming, packaging, and labeling.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks.
  • Working knowledge and expertise with various types of mechanisms, materials, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T), and drawing standards.
  • Experience and/or understanding of process development and equipment validation (IQ/OQ/PQ).
  • Analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to draw insights from data quickly and to define executable actions.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within changing priorities.
  • Capability to manage projects and tasks simultaneously, as well as working both independently and within a team.
