Business Analyst – Minneapolis, MN

Relievant Medsystems, Inc. has developed, proven, and is now commercializing the Intracept procedure – a breakthrough approach to treating patients with chronic low back pain who have failed conservative therapy. Building upon initial commercial success, the company is in need of a Business Analyst to help it scale further – with responsibilities that include leading the implementation of a central Salesforce.com (SFDC) instance, and using it and other methods to monitor, analyze, and report on key metrics that guide commercial execution and decision making, providing ongoing analytical and reporting support for key business processes.

Position Description

The appropriate candidate for this role will be able to lead the definition of key commercial metrics and guide the implementation of SFDC to facilitate ongoing and ad hoc analysis and reporting. The candidate must also possess the business acumen, intellectual curiosity, and personal initiative to derive and share data-based insights to support Relievant in achieving its commercial goals.

Below are a few of the representative responsibilities of the role:

  • Based upon a deep understanding of the business and its commercial goals, determine indicative measures of the business – both leading and lagging – that yield action-able insights in support of commercial goals
  • Track related metrics at an appropriate cadence, with a balance of reporting that reflects the importance, sensitivity, and comprehensiveness of different types of metrics
  • From a commercial prospective, work with marketing, finance, sales, reimbursement, and other functions as needed to understand the business, gather related metrics, and provide analysis from a cross-functional perspective
  • Lead the implementation of SFDC, and support its ongoing utilization as the commercial reporting backbone of the company
    • Provide project management of the SFDC implementation effort to ensure the project is delivered on-time and on-budget (note: this position would lead the project, but execution of the initial implementation would be done via a 3rd party consultant) Be able to custom configure basic aspects of SFDC to fit business reporting needs, such as:
      • Custom objects, record types, fields, page layouts, formulas, data validation rules, custom workflows, notifications, approval processes, Process Builder and Visual Workflow
      • Maintain user roles and profiles, security settings, access settings (User Profiles, Role Hierarchy, Sharing Rules and Security)
      • Account/Contact/Opportunity de-duplication/merging
    • Maintain the instance on an ongoing basis working cross-functionally to ensure data integrity and HIPAA compliance and lead in the optimization of additional metrics and reporting as necessary
  • Other duties that involve understanding, analyzing, and reporting out on business status as requested.

Required Skills:

  • BA or BS Degree in finance, math or computer science (or equivalent experience) preferred
  • 2+ years administering a Salesforce environment with Administrator and Platform App Builder Certifications
  • Strong written and verbal business communication skills
  • A mind that thinks beyond the tactical activity to see the business impact of the work you do
  • Intensely curious mind that seeks to understand the “why” – then immediately begins to design the “how”
  • Ability to apply business practices and acumen to internal customer requests to validate alignment with company goals
  • Familiar with relational database concepts
  • Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving approach
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to use research to resolve issues and escalate issues as needed
  • Ability to develop test scripts and execute testing scenarios
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to achieve team success
  • Ability to occasionally travel as needed (10% or less)
